Fouts, Popp Named Players of the Week

BEREA, Ky. – Dylan Fouts and Trent Popp were named Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Players of the Week for the week of October 4th-10th.  Fouts and Popp helped the Eagles go 1-0-1 on the week and stay undefeated in their last three contests.

Fouts has recorded back-to-back shutouts for the Eagles in KIAC action.Fouts, a sophomore goalie from Lexington, Ky., did not allow a goal this week in games against Berea College and a double-overtime game against Mountain State University.  Asbury’s first two shutouts of the year resulted in a 5- 0 victory over Berea College and a 0 – 0 tie with Mountain State.  In 200 minutes of action, Fouts recorded 17 saves. 

 

 

 

 

Popp recorded his first career hat-trick against Berea College.Trent Popp recorded a hat-trick in a 5 – 0 victory over conference opponent Berea College last week.  The hat-trick is the first for an Eagle since 2007.  He also added an assist in the match.  Popp currently leads Asbury University with four goals scored on the season.  In their other game last week, Asbury University ended in a 0 – 0 tie with Mountain State University.  Asbury will be in action again on October 12th at home against Lincoln Memorial University at 7:00 pm.
