Four Eagle Athletes Honored by KIAC

BEREA, Ky. – Asbury University had four players in three different sports receive Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of Week Awards for the week of September 27th-October 3rd.  Miriam Waslewski (Women’s Tennis, Ryan Moberley (Men’s Soccer), Aly Crawford (Women’s Soccer), and Maegan Rogers (Women’s Soccer) were all honored for their outstanding performances.

Waslewski is undefeated in singles and doubles competition so far this season.Waslewski led Asbury University to a 3 – 0 record last week, posting a perfect 3-0 record in both singles and doubles.  Waslewski has yet to lose a match in singles or doubles competition this season, and has been a vital piece to the Eagle’s 8-1 start.  Asbury notched victories over Oakland City University, College of Mount St. Joseph, and Indiana University East on the week.

 

 

 

Moberley notched his first career goal and assist agains Brescia University.Freshman Ryan Moberley had a memorable week scoring his first collegiate goal against Brescia University on Tuesday.  Moberley also notched his first collegiate assist during the match which the Eagles tied 2-2.  Moberley was the leader of the attack against the Bearcats with seven shots, three on goal.

 

 

Crawford leads the Eagles with four assists this season.Aly Crawford led the Eagles to a 4 – 0 victory over conference opponent Brescia University last week.  Crawford scored a goal and assisted in two others. Crawford is second on the team this year with two goals and leads the team with four assists.  Asbury will next play Covenant College on October 9th.

 

 

 

Rogers recorded her first shutout of the season against Brescia University.In 180 minutes of action last week, Maegan Rogers allowed only two goals.  One of the two goals came in the 83rd minute as Asbury was trying to equalize against Mount Vernon Nazarene University.  Rogers recorded her first shutout of the season in a 4 – 0 victory against Brescia University.  Rogers made three saves in the shutout victory and eight in the 2-0 loss to Mount Vernon.
