Eagles Escape with a Tie
BECKLEY, W.Va. – Asbury couldn't capitalize on any chances and ended with a double-overtime tie with Mountain State in KIAC action on Saturday afternoon. Asbury now sits at 1-6-3 overall and 1-0-2 in the conference.
The Eagles were able to get 12 of their 16 shots on goal but couldn’t’ get one in the net against the Cougars. Dylan Fouts made 12 saves in goal for the Eagles for his second straight shutout. An extremely physical game as 36 combined fouls were called in the match.
“We had a great effort today, just not the result we were hoping for,” Coach Ben Andrews said. “We created several chances and I think had better chances but just couldn’t come up with a goal when we needed it. On the road, in a hostile environment, in a conference game, a tie isn’t the worst thing.”
Asbury finally returns home after a six game road trip that spanned over a month on Tuesday October 12th against Lincoln Memorial University at 7:00 pm.
