Asbury, Georgetown fight to a draw
WILMORE, Ky. – A disallowed goal by Adam Hicks late in the second overtime proved to be the difference as Asbury and Georgetown played to a 1-1 tie on Saturday night. The Eagles had their opportunities in overtime as they took seven shots, Georgetown only took one.
Asbury (3-9-4) was aggressive all night long, making runs deep into Georgetown’s half and were able to take 28 shots and earn 12 corners, but only came away with one goal and five total shots on goal.
Georgetown struck first just after halftime in the 50th minute as Aldo Torres dribbled through the Asbury defense and beat keeper Dylan Fouts with a strike. Asbury would fight back with the equalizer in the 70th minute as Evan Duszynski served a ball into the box after a quick throw in. Jonathan Rehner made a run across the box and got his head on the ball to redirect it into the net.
Asbury’s fourth tie is the most in school history. The Eagles will host the 2010 KIAC Men’s Soccer Tournament on Friday and Saturday November 5th and 6th. The Eagles will play the winner of Brescia and Berea on Friday at 7:30 pm. Cincinnati Christian and Mountain State will meet in the first semi-final at 5:00 pm Friday.
