Early Goals Doom Eagles
Lexington, KY – Asbury was unable to get much going on offense as they dropped their second straight to open the season, this time losing 2-0 to Centre College in the final day of the Glenn Hyundai Nissan Classic at Transylvania University.
Asbury (0-2) was only able to get off four shots and put only one on target in the match. Centre scored both goals from Josh Settle within the first five minutes of the match. Once again the Eagles started to play better after the goals but couldn't overcome Centre and the fact that the team has been hampered by illness all week.
"We came out and fought hard, and were able to control the ball like we wanted," Coach Ben Andrews said. "I'm ready to get back on the field for Tuesday's match and see if we can redeem ourselves."
Another physical match which saw 23 fouls called and saw four players get cautioned. Asbury sophomore Jonathan Rehner received his second caution in as many games.
The Eagles will open the home portion of their schedule on Tuesday as they play host to Mid-Continent University at 5:00 pm.
