Eagles Drop Match at Taylor

Upland, IN – A goal in the 87th minute was the difference in Asbury’s 2-1 loss to Taylor University on Saturday afternoon.  The loss drops the Eagles to 0-5-1 on the season.

Jonathan Rehner scored his first goal of the season early in the second half to tie the game at 1-1.  The Eagles put eight shots on goal, one more than Taylor.  Overall Taylor took 14 shots compared to 12 for Asbury.  Trent Popp led the team with five shots.  Dylan Fouts made five saves in goal for Asbury.

Asbury was unable to build on a good result the night before against Indiana Wesleyan, partly due to injuries.  Starting defenders Nick Kerhoulas and Mark Fitch were unavailable due to injuries the night before, Asbury is already playing without their starting sweeper Jonathan Lewis who was lost for the season.
