Bryan Too Much for Eagles

Wilmore, KY – For the second time this week Asbury’s men’s soccer game was delayed due to lightning.  On Tuesday the Eagles were leading Mid-Continent 2-1 before the game had to be replayed and saw the Eagles lose 2-0.  On Saturday the Eagles were once again on the short end as Bryan College piled on seven goals in the Lions’ 7-0 win.

Asbury (0-4) gave up two early goals within 50 seconds of each other in the 5th minute.  Bryan would add another goal before the game was delayed for just over an hour as a storm passed through.  It could have been worse as keeper Dylan Fouts made eight saves for the Eagles.  Bryan fired off 25 shots while the Eagles could only get off six.

The young Eagles’ squad continues to learn on the field as they deal with the loss of senior starting central defender Jonathan Lewis who was lost for the season on Tuesday.  Bryan who is receiving votes in the latest NAIA poll just recently beat #8 Southern Poly Tech.

Asbury will hit the road for a six game road trip, first traveling to Indiana Wesleyan on Friday September 17th and Taylor on the 18th.  Asbury won’t return home until October 12th.
