Asbury Suffers 5-1 Defeat

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Asbury’s offense could never get on track against University of the Cumberlands as the Patriots won 5-1.  The Eagles’ lone goal came in the last minute of the match as Adam Hicks scored his first goal of the season.

Hicks, who came on as a second half substitute, was the only Asbury player to register a shot in the match.  He got off both shots including the goal.  Cumberlands registered 28 shots in the match as they controlled possession most of the match.

Dylan Fouts made a season-high 11 saves in goal for Asbury, as he was peppered with shots throughout the match.  Fouts played 82 minutes in goal, allowing four of the five goals.

Cumberlands took a 2-0 lead into halftime and opened it up in the 53rd minute.  The Patriots scored two goals within 3o seconds to take a commanding 4-0 lead.  They would add another goal to make it 5-0 before Hicks’ goal.

Asbury will open KIAC play this week as they travel to Owensboro to battle Brescia on Tuesday September 28th at 8:00 pm.
