Three Added to Men's Soccer

Wilmore, Ky. – Asbury University’s men’s soccer program has signed three players for the first season under Head Coach Ben Andrews.  Ryan Poirier from Owensboro, Wes Strunk from Lexington, and Taylor Kool from Norfolk, Va. will all join the Eagles in the fall.

Poirier comes to the Eagles after spending the last two years at Georgetown College and Owensboro Community and Technical College to focus on academics.  He played for Daviess County High School for two years under Doug Sandifer.  During his senior season in 2005 the Panthers set school records for most wins, most shutouts, and most goals scored, and least goals allowed.  Poirier was also a member of the Track and Field team, Young Republicans Club, Renaissance Club, while graduating in the top 10% of his class.

Strunk comes from Lexington Christian Academy after spending the last year and the University of Kentucky pursuing a civil engineering degree.  Strunk spent three years on the LCA squad under Jim Tussey.  He was named the Lafayette Tournament MVP.  He was also a member of the Commonwealth Soccer Club Team based who won the Bronze Division Championship at the Mid-American Soccer Classic.

Kool is from Norfolk Christian High School in Norfolk, Va.  A four-year varsity letterman, Kool led his team in assists during his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons.  He led the conference in assists during his junior campaign and was the team captain his senior year.  Kool also played baseball, basketball, and football, and was a member of the honor roll.
