Fitch Joins Men's Soccer Program

Mark Fitch is Coach Andrews' first commitment for 2010.Wilmore, Ky. – Asbury University Men’s Soccer Coach Ben Andrews has announced the signing of Mark Fitch from Dewitt, Michigan.  Fitch is a defender from New Covenant Christian School who adds depth to a thin back line.

“Mark is great a student-athlete that will bring much needed depth to our back line,” Coach Andrews said.  “His physical presence and ability allows him to compete with our current players immediately.  He is a tremendous kid that I am excited to add to our soccer program.”

A five-year varsity member and a five-year team captain for the Warriors, Fitch was selected to the All-Conference and All-District teams all five years.  He also made the All-Region and All-State teams once.  Fitch was selected to the All-Tournament team in the Colombia Central Invitational.  His team won the Champions of Dansville Invitational.

Fitch played Club Soccer for the Phoenix Soccer Club out of Lansing, Mich. who won the U-19 Champions League State Championship and twice won the U-19 Premier League State Championship.  They were also winners of the 2009 U-19 Kalamazoo K.I.S.S. Tournament and finalists in the 2009 U-19 Canton Cup.

Fitch excelled off of the soccer field as well, as he was selected to the All-Conference team four times in basketball and was the Conference Player of the Year, an All-State selection, and was team captain for three years.  He was also his Senior Class President and was an Honor Roll member for four years.
