Eagles Season Ends In Mobile
Mobile, Ala. - Asbury came up just short in their attempt to upset the University of Mobile in the KIAC/GCAC Unaffiliated Play-off 2-1 on Saturday night. The Eagles' season comes to a close after winning their second KIAC Championship in three years.
Asbury (6-14) only got off five shots in the game but put three on frame including Jacob Cox's first collegiate goal. Mobile scored first in the 33rd minute and then again in the 70th minute to build a 2-0 lead. The Eagles would answer with Cox's goal in the 82nd minute off an assist from Evan Duszynski.
Mobile fired off 23 shots and put 11 on frame forcing Asbury keeper Dylan Fouts to come up with nine saves. Julian Botella returned after a two game suspension and got off two shots for the Eagles including one on goal.
Mobile moves on to the NAIA Opening Round while the Eagles' season comes to a close. Asbury only loses one senior, John Greer, from a young but now experienced team.
