Creech's Strike Leads Eagles Past Cougars
Wilmore, Ky. - Hayes Creech's strike from outside the 18-yard box just crept past the goal line as Asbury picked up their second win of the season in a 1-0 victory over Mountain State on Saturday night. Creech's shot hit the bottom of the crossbar and came down past the line before being knocked out.
Asbury (2-9, 1-1 KIAC) keeper Dylan Fouts had a huge game with 12 saves and his first collegiate clean sheet. The Cougars weren't afraid to shoot from distance and Fouts came up with save after save. MSU fired off 22 shots on the night to Asbury's 12, and the Cougars had 13 corner kicks, but the Asbury defense was up to the challenge.
The lone goal of the game came just before halftime in the 44th minute. Evan Duszynski received the ball near the 18 with his back to the goal. He took once touch then pass it towards the middle where Creech ripped a shot that found it's way past the keeper and past the goal line.
Asbury will head to Cincinnati in another KIAC match against Cincinnati Christian on Monday October 5th at 7:00 pm at Xavier University Soccer Complex. This match was moved up from Friday October 9th.
