Covenant Sends Eagles 6-1 Loss

Box Score

Wilmore, Ky. - Asbury's men couldn't quite get the ball on the right foot as they fell to Covenant College (Ga.) 6-1 on a cold Saturday night.  Asbury played all but 12 minutes of the second half down one man.

Asbury (4-10) went into halftime down only one goal as Covenant scored on a penalty kick after John Greer was whistled for a foul and give a caution in the 32nd minute.  Shortly after halftime the tide turned dramatically.  Evan Duszynski was sent off after making an aggressive play deep in his attacking end.  Asbury would have another player sent off in Julian Botella for accumulating two yellows in the 66th minute.  Head Coach Josh Oakley would also be sent off after Covenant scored their fourth goal in the 64th minute.

Asbury's lone goal came in the 67th minute as Jonathan Rehner got loose on the left side and beat the keeper to the far post.  Asbury had no attack left playing shorthanded and gave up two more late goals.  Asbury played even with Covenant up until Duszynski was sent off.  Duszynski caused problems for Covenants back line most of the first half with his aggressive play.  He forced several of Asbury's best chances despite only getting off one shot.

Asbury will travel to Union University on Thursday October 22nd for a 7:00 pm game.  The Eagles will be without Head Coach Josh Oakley and Julian Botella who will have to serve a mandatory one game suspension for receiving a red card and Evan Duszynski will be unavailable for the next two because he has received two red cards this season.
