Cougars Top Eagles in Overtime

Mayfield, Ky. - Asbury played Mid-Continent, one of the top teams in the NAIA, to the limit forcing overtime before allowing the game winner with 3:31 remaining in the first overtime.  This is the second time Asbury has pushed a good team to the brink on the road before ultimately losing on a golden goal.

Asbury (1-9) got a big game from freshmen keeper Dylan Fouts (Lexington, Ky.) who registered nine saves.  The only goal Fouts allowed came on a direct kick as Ricky Christie served it to Keane Bennett who headed it in for the game winner.

The Eagles came out strong in the second half getting off five of their seven shots on the night.  Jonathan Rehner had one of the better chances, hitting the post on one of his two shots.  Evan Duszynski and Randy Troyer each put a shot on goal.

Asbury will host KIAC rival Mountain State on Saturday at 7:00 pm as the women host Mountain State at 4:00 pm.
