Bulldogs Top Eagles

Wilmore, KY---A goal in the 88th minute gave the Eagles their 5th straight loss, including three decided by one goal in the final ten minutes.  Asbury lost Thursday night 2-1 to Union University (TN), after gaining an early lead.

Asbury (4-10-1) got a goal from Jason U'Wren in the 17th minute when he knocked home a rebound off a direct kick.  The goal was U'Wren's first on the season.  After the goal Union turned up the heat on the Eagles, forcing the issue and continually attacking the Eagles' goal.  Logan Faulkner kept the net empty in the first half with six of his eight saves.

Union got an equalizer in the 50th minute when Hani Nyabam found Rafa Rodriguez in the front of the net and Rodriguez beat Faulkner near post.

The match got really intense when Asbury's Drake Bryan and Union's Josh Hanna got tangled up and pulled each other to the ground.  A scuffle ensued and both players where red carded and sent off in the 56th minute.  Only five minutes later Union's Darlan Rocha was also red carded and sent off when he shoved Asbury's John Greer to the ground.

Asbury couldn't use the man advantage in their favor and Union's Kevin Bradley scored the game winning goal in the 88th minute off a corner from Rafael Carvalho.

Asbury will travel to Lookout Mountain, Georgia on Saturday to take on Covenant College.  Covenant beat Asbury in the NAIA Region XII Tournament last year, ending the Eagles' season.  Asbury will have their final home game of the season Tuesday October 28th at 7pm when they host Campbellsville University on Senior Day.
