Men's Soccer Drops Two
Mount Vernon, OH--- The Asbury College Men's soccer team came up short twice in Mount Vernon, Ohio this past weekend, September 5th and 6th. The Eagles were playing in the First-Knox Cougar Invitational at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. Friday September 5th they lost to Nyack College (NY) 2-0 and Saturday they lost to Manhattan Christian (KS) 4-1.
Second half goals proved to be the downfall for the Eagles as all six goals scored against them came after halftime. Asbury (1-2) was out shot on the weekend 34-23.
Sophomore Wiley Adams made his first career start in goal on Saturday and had six saves. Junior keeper Logan Faulkner had six saves as well on Friday.
Senior midfielder Drake Bryan picked up his first yellow card of the season on Friday night in a game that had 28 total fouls. Junior defender Jason U'Wren picked up his second yellow on Saturday.
Asbury will hit the road one last time Wednesday September 10 before their home opener Saturday. Wednesday's game will be against NCAA Division II Lincoln Memorial University (TN) at Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky at 12:00 pm. Lincoln Memorial is currently ranked 19th in the country in NCAA II, previously ranked number 1. Saturday's home opener will come against Bryan College at 2:00 pm in Wilmore.
