Men's Soccer falls to #9 Indiana Wesleyan
Ninth-ranked Indiana Wesleyan downed Asbury on Thursday night, 8-1. The Wildcats quickly put Asbury at a deficit after scoring in the 6th minute of the game. While IWU converted most of their early chances, Asbury seemingly could not catch a break with a Nate DeFreitas effort smothered by IWU keeper, Spenser Lang and later a Harrison Creech shot that was altered by an errant arm that did not result in a penalty kick.
The lead would grow to 4-0 for IWU before Creech later put Asbury on the board with their only goal of the night on a converted penalty attempt. IWU's Kyle Joern would provide the halftime score of 5-1 with a goal following Creech's.
The loss puts Asbury at 3-4 on the season with a tough trip on Saturday to Huntington (Ind.) University. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. The men will return home for a match with Georgetown (Ky.) on Tuesday night at 8:00 p.m. at the AC Soccer Field.
