Men's Golf Third, Women Fifth at Don Bishop Invitational
CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - The men's and women's golf teams started their 2013-14 schedule Monday at the Don Bishop Invitational held at Campbellsville Country Club.
After day one the men were led by Zach Lemons' 74 (+2) and Steven Brooks' 77 (+5) which has the Eagles sitting third place as a team overall with +18 score. Lindsey Wilson's Frank Medale is the overall leader at minus-1 with a day one 71.
Madison Combs turned in the best score on the women's side for Asbury with a plus-7, 79. She sits six shots behind the leader and is tied for fourth place. As a team the Eagles sit in fourth place.
Day Two Update
The golf teams finished up their first event of the 2013-14 season on Tuesday, turning in a solid first session.
Zach Lemons led the Eagles' men to a third place finish as the highest-finishing male golfer for the Eagles. After a first-round plus-2, Lemons shot a 77 on day two to finish with a plus-7, 151 over two days which was good enough for a sixth place finish.
Mason Carter and Steven Brooks also placed in the top-20 for the Eagles. Carter turned in a strong performance on day two to help the Eagles to their third place finish as he finished in the 12th spot. Brooks put up matching 77 on the scoresheets both days for a 15th-place finish.
Lindsey Wilson took home first in both the individual standings and team standings.
Madison Combs finished in 10th-place for the women. Her day-two 93 dropped her down from sixth place after 18 holes to her finishing postiion at plus-28. Amanda Smith finished just five strokes behind Combs in 17th, after an 88 and 89 in round one and two, respectively.
The women finished in fifth-place in the tournament as a team. Host Campbellsville took home first-place for the team results.
