Golfers Place Ninth at St. Catharine Invite

Luke RoseBARDSTOWN, Ky. – Asbury men’s golf completed the St. Catharine Fall Invitational in ninth place on Tuesday afternoon in the 11-team field.  The Eagles two-day score of 657 was only two strokes behind UVA-Wise and only five shots back of sixth-place St. Catharine. 

Asbury improved from a first day 332 to shoot 325 on the second day at the par-72, 6,844 yard Maywood Country Club course.  Luke Rose fired an 80 on both days of the tournament and finished with a 160, good for a tie for 18th in the 65 player field.  Daniel Gibbons led the team on day two with a 79 after failing to place in the team’s top four on day one with an 89.  Stephen Brooks and Jordan Wood both finished with a 167 and Zach Lemons shot a 172.

Bellarmine University won the team event with a 608 (311-297).  Lindsey Wilson finished seven shots back and Campbellsville was 15 shots behind in third place.  Nathan Clark from Lindsey Wilson shot four-over par, 148, to win the individual title.  He was consistent with a 74 on each day.  Three players shot 73 on the second day.  Clark entered the second day in a tie with Georgetown’s JT Ross.  No player shot par or under in either round.

The Eagles will wrap up the fall season next Monday and Tuesday at the Union College Invitational at Wasioto Winds Golf Club.
