Eagles Take 2nd at KIAC Championships

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. – Asbury golf held off Indiana East and Cincinnati Christian for second place at the KIAC Championships held at Stonecrest Golf Course.  Brescia won the 54-hole tournament after shooting a 937, Asbury shot 950 with IUE at 951 and CCU at 956.

The schools played 27 holes on Thursday before finishing with 27 more on Friday.  Cincinnati Christian’s Jordan Leisinger defeated Brescia’s Haydon Young in a playoff hole to win the individual medalist honors.  Asbury’s Zach Lemons finished third, one stroke behind the co-leaders with a 230 (72-81-77).  Lemons held the 18-hole lead after an even-par 72. 

Daniel Gibbons finished in a tie for fifth place after shooting a 232 (79-75-78), and was one of three golfers to shoot in the 70’s in all three rounds.

Asbury finished second in this event a year ago behind Brescia.
