Golf Takes 7th at St. Catharine

Men's golfBARDSTOWN, Ky. – Asbury’s men’s golf team was the only team to improve on day two of the St. Catharine Invitational at Bardstown Country Club on Tuesday and finished seventh out of 12 teams.  The Eagles were ninth after the first day after a 338 but improved by two strokes and finished with a 674. 

Luke Rose was the top golfer for Asbury after posting an 80 on day one he took an 82 on the second day at the Par-72 course.  Rose placed 29th out of 67 golfers.  Daniel Gibbons had the best second round total for the Eagles with an 81, following an 83 on Monday.  He placed in a tie for 34th.

University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) won the event with a 599, eight strokes in front of Lindsey Wilson.  Scott Foster from Campbellsville won the event with a 146, two over par for the event.

For Asbury Zach Lemons took a 171 after posting an 86 on Monday and an 85 on Tuesday.  Jordan Wood shot a 177 for the tournament and Kaiser DeKam shot a 180.  Asbury finished six strokes in front of conference rival Brescia for the tournament.

This concludes the fall portion of the schedule as the Eagles will hit the links again in the spring for the championship segment of their season.
