Golf Earns Second in Conference
HENDERSON, Ky. – Freshman Zack Burr led Asbury to a second place finish at their first KIAC Tournament at Audubon State Park. The Eagles completed the 36-hole tournament with a score of 638, Brescia won with a 611 total.
Burr took second on the individual side as well, scoring a 76 on day one and coming back with the day’s best round on Friday with a 75. Isaac Church from Brescia shot a 70 on day one and a 77 on day two to take the tournament at 147, four shots better than Burr.
Fellow freshmen Zach Lemons and Daniel Gibbons placed in the top ten with 157 from Lemons and a 159 from Gibbons, good for 8th and 9th place respectively. Lemons finished both rounds under 80 with a 79 on day one and a 78 on day two. Gibbons shot a 78 on day one and an 81 on day two.
The Eagles were sitting a mere one stroke in front of Cincinnati Christian for second place after the first day. The freshmen-laden squad fired off a 315 on the second day, eight shots better than day one and 18 better than CCU’s second day 333.
Asbury finishes their inaugural campaign with second place finishes in each of their four spring invitationals.
