Golf Takes Second at Own Invitational

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – The Eagles captured second place in their Spring Invitational at Golf Club of the Bluegrass on Tuesday, beating out four conference teams in the process.  Asbury went into the second day of the tournament only three strokes behind leader and eventual champion Brescia.

Zach Lemons finished in seventh place with a two-day score of 163 after shooting an 81 on day one and an 82 on the second.  Right behind him was teammate Daniel Gibbons who shot a 164 after a 79 on Monday.  Ben Wheatley led the Eagles on Monday with a 77 and finished the tournament in a tie for 10th after a 166 total.

Brescia won the tournament with a total score of 625 and Asbury finished with a 657.  Brescia also had the top three finishers in the tournament as Chase Carrico took the title with a 151.  All four Brescia golfers the scored for the team shot in the 70s on Tuesday and finished in the top nine overall.

Asbury will head to the KIAC Championships next week in Owensboro.  The tournament format is 54 holes over two days at Ben Hawes Golf Course.
