Golf returns to Old Bridge

DANVILLE, Ky. – Asbury’s golf team returned to the course on Saturday at Old Bridge Golf Course in the Old Bridge Invitational hosted by Centre College.  The men placed 8th out of 10 teams and the women were 5th out of 6 teams.

Adam Ward led the men with an 82 on the day.  Ward was +1 through nine holes but struggled the final nine holes to finish in a tie for 26th place.  Ben Wheatley finished in a tie for 29th with an 83 as all five Asbury golfers were bunched together.  Daniel Gibbons (34th, 84), Kaiser DeKam (37th, 85) and Zach Lemons (45th, 87) rounded out the guys’ scoring. 

The women were led by Madison Combs’ 12th place finish with a score of 89.  Combs has been the highest finisher for the Eagles in all three tournaments this year.  Mary Beth Cunningham (96), Bethany Sonnier (106), Amanda Paschal (116), and Meredith Robison (122) rounded out the scoring.

The men will head to Berea, Ky. for their final tournament of the fall on Saturday October 9th, while the women have concluded their fall competition schedule.  The spring schedule will be released as soon as it has been completed.
