Women 2nd, Men 6th at Fast Cats Invitational
OWENSBORO, Ky. - The Asbury cross country teams competed in the Fast Cats Invitational held at Daviess County High School and turned in solid performances as the women took second and the men fifth.
Katy Falkenberg and Justine Vonderheide continue to lead the women week-in and week-out as the top finishers. Falkenberg (19:47.79) turned in a fifth place finish behind Bellarmine's top four finishers in spots one through four. As has been the case all season, Falkenberg set the pace for teammate Justine Vonderheide (19:58.06) who finished just 11 seconds behind her teammate and in eighth place overall.
Christina Williams, Devon Zweifel, Kim Miller, Carlie Core, and Julia Chin all finished their races in the top half of the 67-person race, helping the Eagles to their second place finish.
Taylor Diehl led the Asbury racers to the finish line again, turning in a time of 28:26.46, good enough for a top-20 finish in 19th place. Diehl was followed by teammates David Smith, Caleb Woodard and Isaac Harrison who finished 29th, 33rd, and 34th respectively.
Bellarmine also took home first place in the men's race. John-Paul Williamson from Lindsey Wilson took first individually.
The Eagles get two weeks off before heading to Grayson, Ky., for the Kentucky Christian Invitational on October 26th.
