Brewster, Moe qualify for NAIA Nationals

Brewster will race at the NAIA National Meet for the second consecutive year.WILMORE, Ky. – Sophomore Jarred Brewster and freshman Sarah Moe qualified for the NAIA National Championship after finishing 4th and 6th respectfully in the KIAC Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships.  Asbury’s men and women both finished third in their races.

Brewster (Nicholasville, Ky.) will run at the national meet for the second consecutive year after posting a 27:29 8K on Saturday.  Race winner Darryll Patrick from Berea College won the race by 30 seconds over second place with a 26:50.  The Eagles finished one point ahead of St. Louis College of Pharmacy to take third out of seven teams.  Austin Powell and Eric Sanders placed 18th and 19th with a 29:54 and a 29:59.

 

 

Moe is the first female to qualify for Asbury since 2008.

Moe (O’Fallon, Mo.) will be the first female to represent Asbury at the national meet since 2008.  Moe’s 21:47 was 42 seconds behind race winner Nichole Hardin from Berea College.  Asbury senior Maddi Ury finished 9th with a 22:14, but missed out on a trip to the national meet by one spot.  The winning team and the top five individuals from the non-winning teams qualify.  Asbury took places 14-17 and were a mere ten points from Berea.

This year’s NAIA National Championship Meet will be held in Vancouver, Wash. on November 20th.  The women will race at 1:30 pm EDT and the men will follow at 2:45 pm EDT.

Asbury’s men and women will both run next Saturday, November 13 at the NCCAA National Meet in Cedarville, Ohio.
