Eagles Place 5th in Danville

Danville, KY – A pair of fifth place finishes is all the Eagles could muster at the Centre College Invitational on Saturday morning.  Jarred Brewster once again led the men with a 13th place finish and freshman Sarah Moe led the women with a 21st place finish.

Brewster a sophomore from Nicholasville finished with a time of 29:20 in the men’s 8k, more than two minutes behind Berea’s Austin Houchens who won the race.  Moe, from O’Fallon, Missouri ran a time of 27:52 in the women’s 5k, in her first collegiate race.

There’s a lot of promise on the women’s side as five of the top seven finishers are freshman with one sophomore and one senior.  Maddi Ury, one of two seniors on the team, placed 25th with a time of 28:21 a week after a DNF in the A-J Special.  Dria Stallings, Beth Crist, ad Katie Claussen were clustered together at 33rd, 35th, and 36th respectively.

The men also have a lot of young runners as Brewster, only a sophomore, along with freshmen Eric Sanders and Ben Adams were the top finishers for the Eagles.  Sanders placed 31st and Adams 34th with times of 31:07 and 31:17.

Asbury will run in the Berea College Invitational next Saturday September 18th.
