KIAC Releases Fall Coaches' Polls
Wilmore, Ky. – The KIAC office has released the 2010 Fall Coaches Polls and Asbury’s soccer programs have been tabbed as preseason favorites. The women’s soccer program has won four straight KIAC regular season and tournament championships; the men finished in a three way tie for the regular season title and won the tournament.
The women received all four first place votes and finished with 24 points, Cincinnati Christian was picked second with 18 points. The men grabbed two first place votes and finished with 14 points, Mountain State, who had the other first place vote, was second with 12 points.
The volleyball team was picked third with 59 points, just one point behind Indiana Southeast. Returning champion Indiana East was nabbed as the favorite, taking all eight first place votes. Asbury has made three straight KIAC tournament championship games, the lone victory coming in the 2008 season.
Women’s Tennis was selected fourth in the seven team league, finished with 24 points. Indiana Southeast took five of the six first place votes and the top spot with 40 points. Jarred Miller grabs the reigns of the women’s program for Asbury, in addition to his duties leading the men, and will look to improve on a 3-5 conference mark last year.
The Women’s Cross Country team was picked to finish third out of eight and the men fourth out of seven. The women received 27 points with St. Louis Pharmacy grabbing the top spot and four out of five first place votes. The men tallied 15 points with Berea the unanimous pick to win with 28 points and all four first place votes.
