Eagles Place 2nd in First Race of Season

Wilmore, Ky. - Freshmen Jared Brewster and junior Maddi Ury led the way for Asbury in their first Cross Country meet of the season, as both the men and women finished second behind Georgetown College in the RJ Corman A-J Special 5K at Asbury.

Brewster ran a 17:20, ten seconds behind winner Luke Garnett of Georgetown, while Ury finished behind four Georgetown runners at 24:16. Freshmen Beth Crist and sophomore Katie Liversedge finished 9th and 10th for the Eagles, turning in times of 24:57 and 25:53 respectively.

On the men's side Josiah Calicott finished ahead of a pack of Asbury runners at 11 with a time of 19:01. Right behind him were Austin Powell, Forrest Stratford and Brian Troyer. Tyler Zweifel and Andrew Faas also scored for the men while Leah Curry, Nadia Welchel, Sarah Bissig, and Melissa McLeod earned points for the women.

The Eagles will be in action at the Bluegrass Festival 5K at Ichthus Farm in Wilmore on Saturday September 5th. The race begins at 8:00 am.
