Cross Country begins season at Belmont (Tenn.) Opener
Asbury's cross country teams began their season on Friday in Nashville, Tennessee at the Belmont University Opener, a meet co-hosted by Belmont and Vanderbilt University, both NCAA schools. The Eagles featured a top-half showing by sophomore Lindsay Keveren, who finished the 4K women's course in a time of 16:58.00. The result placed her 67th of 134 total runners. Junior Carolyn Tegge placed 79th overall and second amongst Asbury's women's team with a time of 17:28.42, while senior Melissa Waterman earned 97th place, third best on the team with a 18:28.61 showing.
The men were led by freshman Aaron Linard who posted a 17:47.87 in the men's 5K run. The result placed Linard 81st amongst 112 runners. Freshmen Austin Powell and Andrew Swearingen posted times of 18:58.50 and 19:40.62 respectively. Complete results can be found above for both the men's and women's events.
