Women's Cross Country wins KIAC title, Thompson named Coach of the Year
Asbury competed at the NAIA Region XII meet on Saturday with the results also determining the championship of the KIAC amongst member schools. The Asbury women came away with the conference title, placing first amongst KIAC schools, but also placed 4th overall in the region. The Eagles were led by Carolyn Tegge with a finish of 20:45.13 in the 5K event. Melissa Waterman and Lindsey Keveran would place second and third for the team and all three would represent Asbury on the All-Conference team. Tegge's honor would come on the heels of her capturing the KIAC Runner of the Week for October 23-29.
The men provided a good showing, finishing second in the conference and ninth overall for the regional portion of the meet. Russell Aldridge posted the best time in the 8K of 30:26.91. He also was the KIAC Runner of the Week amongst the men for October 23-29.
Richard Thompson was also honored at the meet, being named the KIAC Coach of the Year. The honor is the second in a row for the Asbury program with Will Shouse taking home co-Coach honors last year.
