Matt Botner is beginning his second season as an assistant coach for the Asbury University men’s basketball program in 2011-12, and the first as the JV coach.
Botner lettered at Asbury for the 2004-05 season. As a player he was a member of an NCCAA Division I tournament team.
A native of Winchester, Ky., Botner graduated from Asbury with a Bachelor of Arts in Youth Ministry in 2007, and earned a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of the Cumberlands in 2010. Before returning to Asbury, he served as head coach of the sixth and seventh grade teams at Conkwright Middle School in Winchester, Ky., from 2007-10.
Botner resides in Lexington.
