Eagles Drop Third Straight Road Game
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Eagles kept it close at the half against Cincinnati Christian but faded late in a 71-53 loss in Cincinnati Tuesday night. CJ Penny finished with a team high 13 for Asbury. The loss was the Eagles' third in as many tries on the road.
Austin Flannery chipped in nine, Tyler Smith had eight and Cam Richardson added seven more for the Eagles.
The Eagles trailed nearly the whole way as they just couldn't seem to get things going on the offensive end. Shooting just .296 in the first half and finishing 21-63 for the game proved costly for Asbury who dropped to 16-10 overall and 9-7 in a jumbled KIAC conference.
Cincinnati Christian all but solidified their spot in the top four of the KIAC regular season with the win as they got 21 from Willie McKinney for the game high. CCU improved to 10-6 in conference play and 17-12 overall on the season.
The Eagles host Alice Lloyd College on Thursday in a huge matchup with big time implications for the KIAC Playoff picture. IU-Southeast has secured the no. 1 seed but the rest will fight for the other three top seeds and for the right to host an opening round game. Thursday night's game is slated for an 8 p.m. tip.
Thursday night's game will feature a special promotion as the Eagles will be giving away two lower level tickets to the final two regular season games for UK basketball. Two tickets will be given away at halftime of both the women's and men's game. The game will also be a whiteout game, and fans who come wearing a white shirt can have their name entered twice into the drawing!
