Eagles Falter Late, Alice Lloyd Takes 89-76 Win
PIPPA PASSES, Ky. - After a strong end of the half and quick start to the second the Eagles looked poised to capture their 16th win of the season. A combination of poor shooting and foul trouble had head coach Will Shouse shuffling the lineup ultimately leading to the Eagles' ninth loss this season-- and sixth in conference play.
CJ Penny's 20 points led the way for the Eagles who shot just 31.6 percent in the second half. Lee'Vaughn Morris and Tyler Smith added 11 each for the Eagles who dropped to 15-9 overall and 8-6 in the KIAC this season.
Alice Lloyd's Cody Malicoat had a game-high 27 for the hosts.
The Eagles, behind 50.0 percent from the field and 63.6 percent from deep, had a stellar first half offensively to send the game into the break all knotted up at 44 apiece. But they went just 3-11 from deep in the second half and Alice Lloyd padded their lead at the charity stripe and rode Malicoat's hot shooting to the 89-76 win.
Malicoat scored six of the host's eight points in an 8-0 run with just over five minutes to go to break the game open.
The Eagles, with just three games left on their regular season schedule, will host Point Park (Pa.) on Saturday for senior day. Game time is slated for a 4 p.m. start.
