Delph, Penny Named All-KIAC

Cj Penny & Adam DelphBEREA, Ky. – Senior Adam Delph and freshman CJ Penny were named All-KIAC by league coaches.  Delph leads the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in points per game at 18.87 on the season.  He was also named KIAC Comeback Player of the Year after missing the 2011-12 season with a torn ACL.

This is the second time Delph has been named to the All-Conference team, also making the squad during the 2010-11 season.  This year the senior leads the team in points per game and assists (3.45) and is fourth in rebounds at 5.1.  He’s shooting 49-percent from the floor and 39-percent from three-point range.  He ranks 18th in NAIA II in points per game.  Delph leads the team with five double-doubles on the season after an 11 point, 11 assist performance on Saturday night.

Penny joined the team after the first semester and has made an immediate impact, scoring 15.8 points per game and grabbing 6.9 rebounds per game.  The freshman is shooting 55-percent from the floor.

The Eagles finished the regular season with an 18-12 overall record and 9-6 in the KIAC.  They are the three seed in the KIAC Tournament and moved to the semis with a 102-73 victory over Berea on Saturday night.  The Eagles will take on second-seeded Indiana East on Monday at 2 pm.  The semifinals and finals are hosted by Indiana Southeast.

Indiana Southeast’s Cameron Mitchell was named Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year.  Cincinnati Christian’s Ken Tracy was named Coach of the Year after the team improved from 11-19, 5-8 KIAC to 16-15, 9-6 KIAC and the fourth seed in his first season.
