Jones Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

Justin JonesWILMORE, Ky. – Asbury University men’s basketball senior Justin Jones has been named Capitol One Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).  Jones is the first men’s basketball player to receive this honor. 

Jones (3.36 GPA, Business Management) is a four-year starter for the Eagles and averaging 8.1 points per game this year.  The senior from Hazard, Ky. is only six blocks away from the all-time career school record and is 35th in the NAIA this year with 29.  He is only the second player to swat 200 shots and will become the third to grab 900 rebounds with five more boards.

The Eagles are off this weekend before returning to the court on Tuesday at Berea.  Asbury is currently third in the KIAC at 6-3, 15-9 overall. 

To be eligible, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve, have at least a 3.30 GPA and be voted onto the teams by members of CoSIDA. Athletic and academic accomplishments are taken into account.

All Capital One (R) Academic All-District First Team honorees will have their names advance to the ballot for the Capital One (R) Academic All-American teams, which will be voted on by CoSIDA later this month
