Delph Hits 1,000 As Eagles Defeat Wilberforce
BEREA, Ky. – Adam Delph became the 15th member of the 1,000 point club on Saturday afternoon as the Eagles defeated Wilberforce 74-66 in the Roland Wierwille Classic at Berea College. Delph needed 14 points coming into the game and scored 19.
Asbury improves to 8-4 while Wilberforce drops to 4-7. The Eagles were balanced with their scoring, breaking a recent trend, as four starters reached double digits. Delph’s 19 led the way as he made 8-of-19 from the field.
The Eagles overcame a four-point halftime deficit. Wilberforce surrendered the lead within the first three minutes of the second half but were able to retake it with six minutes to play. Asbury reclaimed the lead for good with 2:54 to play as Dakotah Euton made his lone three-pointer of the game. He finished with 15 points and nine rebounds.
Justin Jones was also a rebound shy of a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds. The Eagles broke a streak of being outrebounded in five straight games by outrebounding the Bulldogs 40-32. Darius Foster paced the Bulldogs with a game-high 21 points and 11 rebounds.
