Flannery's Treys Lead Eagles Past Cobras

WILMORE, Ky. – Austin Flannery knocked down seven three-pointers as Asbury rolled to an 84-64 win over Virginia Intermont in the Zweifel Classic on Friday night. Cincinnati Christian defeated Milligan 81-69 in the first men’s game of the day.
Flannery scored a game-high 25 points and connected on 7-of-12 from beyond the arc en route to a season-high point performance. The junior guard is hitting on 44 percent of three point attempts on the season. His 25 point performance was one off a career-high set last season. Flannery also made all four free throw attempts.
Asbury (4-1) have won three straight, largely behind balanced scoring. On Friday night the Eagles had four players in double figures. In addition to Flannery, Adam Delph scored 17, Justin Jones chipped in with 11 and Mitch McLeish came off the bench to score 16. Nine players scored over all for the Eagles. Joshua Hart led Virginia Intermont with 22 points and 12 rebounds.
Asbury enjoyed a 42-36 advantage on the boards and McLeish led the way with six. He also added three assists. Kyle Bair led the team with six assists on the night as the Eagles handed out 18. The team is averaging 16 assists per game.
The Eagles will battle Milligan on Saturday in the finale at 6pm. Cincinnati Christian will take-on Virginia Intermont at 2pm.
