Adam DelphWILMORE, Ky. – Gavin Scott’s basket with two seconds left gave Mid-Continent a 65-64 win over Asbury on Saturday in the final game of the Tip-Off Classic.  Asbury led 64-63 with 15 seconds left but after Lee’Vaughn Morris missed the front end of a one-and-one the Cougars came down and hit the shot to win it.  That was the only miss from the free throw line on the day for the Eagles.

Asbury (1-1) just missed on their chance to open 2-0 for the first time under Will Shouse.  The Eagles shot only 32% from the floor and made 10-of-28 from long range.  Adam Delph led the Eagles with 17 points despite playing only 22 minutes after picking up two early fouls in the first half.

Three other players, Dakotah Euton, Austin Flannery and Lee’Vaughn Morris were in double figures with 10 points each.  Euton added his first double-double of the season with a game-high 13 rebounds.  Gavin Scott led the Cougars with 14 points.

Asbury will hit the road for the first time this year on Monday as they travel to Madisonville, Tenn. to play Hiwassee College.
