Vogel, Carroll Named Scholar-Athletes
WILMORE, Ky. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced the men’s and women’s 2012 NAIA-Daktronics Schoalar-Athletes with Peter Vogel and Laura Carroll both being honored. The duo marks the 14th and 15th student-athletes to be honored this year.
Vogel (Lexington, Ky.) is a repeat recipient after being honored last year as well. The senior forward finished his playing career with 68 wins and 85 points. Vogel is a Pre-Physical Therapy major that is set to graduate in May.
Carroll (Paintsville, Ky.) is an Elementary Education major that averaged 12.8 points and 3.9 assists per game during her junior year. Carroll helped lead the Eagles to their most wins in school history and their first winning record and KIAC Title in school history.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
