Asbury Enacts Revenge Against Alice Lloyd
WILMORE, Ky. – It wasn’t pretty but Asbury pulled out a 69-59 win over Alice Lloyd on Tuesday, keeping hopes alive for a first round home game in the KIAC Tournament. The Eagles never trailed in the second half as they limited Alice Lloyd to 30 percent shooting in the second half.
Dakotah Euton just missed his fourth straight game of 20 or more points with 19. Marquel Johnson also scored 19 points, knocking down five three-pointers on eight attempts. Euton also pulled down 13 rebounds and handed out a team-high four assists. Justin Jones also had 13 rebounds as the Eagles grabbed 55, including 17 offensive. Alice Lloyd pulled in only 41 rebounds.
Asbury (11-14, 5-6 KIAC) turned a 33-30 halftime lead into an 11 point lead just six minutes into the second half as Alice Lloyd started the half 1-for-11 from the field. The Eagles would keep Alice Lloyd at arm’s length for most of the half as Euton scored 12 of his 19 after halftime. Marquel Johnson poured in 16 of his 19 in the first half, allowing the Eagles to hold their halftime lead.
In their first meeting in Pippa Passes, Asbury shot 27 percent in the 69-64 loss. On Tuesday the Eagles shot only 33 percent but held Alice Lloyd to 32 percent.
Asbury will travel to #17 Indiana Southeast on Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. tip before closing out the regular season with #11 Indiana East on Tuesday, February 21.
