#17 Red Wolves Spoil Senior Night

Dakotah EutonWILMORE, Ky. – It turned ugly quickly on senior night as the No. 17 Red Wolves from Indiana East secured an 11-point lead just six minutes in, and kept it there virtually all night in a 93-72 win over Asbury.  The Eagles will travel to Indiana East on Saturday for first round action in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Tournament.

A career-high 26 points from Dakotah Euton were not enough to carry the Eagles (11-16, 5-8 KIAC) to victory as the Red Wolves (24-6, 11-2 KIAC) shot 63 percent for the game.  They connected on 12-of-22 from long range and dished out 24 assists on 40 field goals.

Euton was 9-of-13 from the floor including 2-of-4 from beyond the three-point line.  The sophomore also pulled down 10 rebounds, coming off the bench for senior night.  He would also hit 6-of-8 free throws as the team finished 17-of-25 from the charity stripe.

Asbury was never able to fight back after the first initial punch.  Indiana East shot over 60 percent in each half as the Eagles finished at 40 percent.  Asbury hit only 7-of-22 three-pointers.  Austin Flannery made three from beyond the arc and finished with 18 points.

Justin Jones moved into second place on the school career block list with three against Indiana East.  The junior now has 170 in his career, only 37 away from Stephen Horn’s school record.

With the loss the Eagles fall into a four-way tie for fourth place in the KIAC.  Due to the second tie-breaker, record against the next highest seed (Brescia), the Eagles are seeded 7th and will travel to Indiana East on Saturday for a 2 p.m. tip at Earlham College.  Live stats will be provided and possibility of live video exists.  Once live video is confirmed the link will be posted.
