Eagles Blow Past Saints
WILMORE, Ky. – Asbury raced out to a 31-6 lead en route to a 102-58 blowout win over Central Christian (Mo.) in the Zweifel/Pritchett Classic on Friday night. The Eagles would knock down 13 threes for the second straight game as Brock Hurtle hit seven of his own.
Asbury (5-6) would quickly grab a 31-6 lead and control of the game in the first eight minutes. Their lead would never dip below 10 the rest of the game. Brock Hurtle poured in a season-high 23 points while hitting on a career-high seven-of-15 threes. The senior would hit five threes in the first half.
Dakotah Euton and Austin Flannery both scored over 20 points, marking the third straight game Flannery has surpassed 20 points. Euton recorded his third double-double of the season with 21 points and 12 rebounds in only 22 minutes. Flannery added 20 points and four assists.
Justin Jones grabbed 14 rebounds and just missed a double-double with eight points. He also led all players with six assists. 11 players scored for the Eagles on the night as all 15 in uniform saw the floor. The bench scored 30 points while Central Christian’s bench scored only three. Terry Jones and Kris Holford each scored 20 to lead the Saints.
Asbury pulled down 50 rebounds including 17 offensive, which led to 15 second chance points. This is the second time the Eagles have eclipsed the 100 point mark this season. They also did so against West Virginia Parkersburg on November 4 in a 120-84 win.
Berea defeated Cincinnati-Clermont in the first men’s game of the Zweifel/Pritchett Classic 104-90 in double overtime. Asbury will take on Cincinnati-Clermont in the finale at 6 p.m. while Berea battles Central Christian at 2 p.m.
