Eagles Cruise Past Riverhawks
WILMORE, Ky. – Asbury never trailed on Friday on their way to a blowout 120-84 victory over West Virginia-Parkersburg on Friday night. The Eagles led by as much as 30 in the first half and pushed it out to 38 in the second half.
Asbury (1-1) had five players in double-figures and saw 16 of 17 players score in the game. Austin Flannery led the Eagles in scoring for the second straight game, knocking down five-of-seven threes on his way to 20 points. Brock Hurtle would connect on four-of-seven from long range and finished with 14. Three players reached double-digits off the bench, as Cam Richardson scored 12 and Peter Vogel and Tyler Woods each scored 10.
Asbury shot 52% from the floor in the game and connected on 17-of-40 from long range. Parkersburg shot 41% from the field and were led by Rodney Shawver’s 27 points.
15 players grabbed a rebound for the Eagles, as they finished with 60 in the game, compared to 41 for the Riverhawks. No Eagle had 10 boards as Dakotah Euton led the team with eight. Nate Johnson handed out seven assists on the night and Shelton Burruss added five off the bench as the Eagles dished out 28 in the game.
Asbury will battle Bluefield College on Saturday at 8 p.m. as they wrap up the Asbury Classic. Bluefield lost to Indiana East 94-84 on Friday. IUE will play WVU-Parkersburg on Saturday at 6 p.m.
