Men's Basketball Schedule Released

WILMORE, Ky. – Asbury men’s basketball coach Will Shouse has released his 2011-12 schedule.  The Eagles will play 14 home games including seven each semester.  Asbury will once again play exhibition contests against NCAA Division I Morehead State and NCAA II Kentucky Wesleyan.

The Eagles will open the season at home as they host Wilberforce University on November 2nd.  Asbury will host the Asbury Classic a few days later, November 4-5 and will play West Virginia University-Parkersburg and Bluefield College.  Indiana East will also take part in the classic.  Asbury will also host the annual Zweifel/Pritchett Classic with the women’s team on December 9-10.  The men will take on Central Christian College (Mo.) and Cincinnati-Clermont during the weekend.

The Eagles will take part in three other classics, the first at Union (Ky.) College on Nov. 11-12 and the second at Berea on Dec. 2-3.  In January, Asbury will travel to Southern Virginia University to take part in their classic on the 13th-14th

Asbury will open KIAC play on the road, travelling to Brescia University during the semester break, January 2nd.  They will play four consecutive home games during conference play starting on January 26th against Indiana Southeast and will also see Cincinnati Christian, St. Louis Pharmacy and Berea during the home stand.  The Eagles will close out the season on February 21st at home against Indiana East.

Other highlights on the schedule include Georgetown College on November 8th at Georgetown and hosting Campbellsville University on December 6th.

In 2010-11 the Eagles were 20-8 and 11-2 in the KIAC and were tri-champions.  It was only the second time in school history the men have been able to claim a share of the conference title.
