Morrison's 34 leads Eagles past Simpson

REDDING, Calif. – Phillip Morrison tied a season high with 34 points as Asbury won their second straight in California, 78-69 over Simpson University.  The Eagles will close out their west coast road trip against West Coast Baptist today at 3:00 pm.

Morrison carried Asbury in the first half, scoring 19 of the team’s 38 points.  The game was tied at the break, the Eagles shot only 34% in the first half.  Morrison did most of his damage from the floor in the first half, hitting all three of his three pointers before the break.  He was 6-of-8 from the floor.

The Eagles came out on fire in the second half scorching the nets at a 62% clip, but 12 turnovers allowed Simpson to hang in the game.  Morrison knocked down 7-of-8 from the free throw line in the second half and Adam Delph scored 11 of his 18 points as the Eagles held on for the victory.  Delph added all five of his rebounds in the second half and dished out four assists in the game.

Justin Jones just missed a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds and Flip Crawford grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds, five off the offensive glass.  The Eagles grabbed 38 total rebounds and Simpson pulled down 31.  Pat Magno led Simpson with 25 points and seven assists.
