Morrison earns second straight KIAC Player of the Week honors
Asbury University guard Phillip Morrison was named the KIAC men’s basketball player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, January 24th. This is his second conference player of the week award on the season and second in a row.
In two games last week, Morrison averaged 31.5 points per game while guiding Asbury to wins over two conference opponents. Morrison had 35 points and 2 assists in an 88-60 win over Berea College. He also scored 28 points in a win over Brescia University. For the week, he connected on 64.9 percent of his shots from the field (24-of-37) and 63.6 percent of his 3-point attempts (7-of-11).
Morrison currently ranks 8th nationally in points per game (23) and 11th nationally in 3-point field goal percentage (45.6). He will become the 6th player in school history to reach 1,600 career points with three more points. He has already scored 20 or more points 11 times this year and at least 30 in three games.
Asbury University is set to return to action on January 27th when they host Alice Lloyd College at 8:00 pm.
