Eagles win 3rd straight, Take Simpson Classic
REDDING, Calif. – Asbury’s defense locked up West Coast Baptist as the Eagles cruised to their third straight victory 74-57. The Eagles finish the Simpson University Classic as the only unbeaten team at 3-0.
Asbury’s defense shut down West Coast Baptist in the first half, limiting them to 16% shooting and taking a 39-21 halftime lead. Phillip Morrison scored 11 and Justin Jones scored all 10 of his points in the first half as the Eagles connected on 56% from the floor. Morrison would finish with 18 points.
Adam Delph led the Eagles (9-5) with 20 points, five assists, and three blocks. He also pulled down four rebounds. Delph connected on 9-of-15 from the floor. Jones and Flip Crawford each recorded a double-double, marking the second time this year both players have reached this feat in the same game. Jones finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds and Crawford had 13 points and 13 rebounds.
The Eagles will open up KIAC play on January 11th as they host Indiana University East at 7:30 pm.
