Morrison, Eagles shoot past Ohio Christian

WILMORE, Ky. – Asbury jumped out to a 22 point halftime lead over Ohio Christian and cruised to a 91-82 victory, their fifth straight.  The Eagles led by as many as 29 in the first half and were up by 21 with eight minutes remaining before the Trailblazers started to chip away.

Phillip Morrison poured in 34 points, 17 in each half as he was 12-of-14 from the free throw line.  Morrison knocked down four threes and was 9-of-21 from the floor.  Brock Hurtle also knocked down four threes and scored 14 points off the bench.  Asbury (6-4) connected on 12 threes in the game including eight in the first half.

Flip Crawford recorded his fourth straight double-double with 13 points and a game high 12 rebounds.  Justin Jones posted his first double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds.  Both Jones and Crawford blocked two shots.  The Eagles grabbed 17 offensive rebounds and 49 overall.  Ohio Christian pulled down only 39 rebounds.

Adam Delph scored only eight points but dished out six assists and grabbed six rebounds.  Ohio Christian was led by Brandon Byars’ 28 points and 10 rebounds.  The Trailblazers made only 5-of-23 three point attempts and shot 42% overall.  Asbury finished the game shooting 46% and 70% from the free throw line.

Asbury will close out this semester at home against Centre College on Thursday December 16th at 7:00 pm before heading to California after Christmas.
