Asbury cold in season opener

ATHENS, Tenn. – Asbury started their season cold as they lost 94-52 to Tennessee Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon.  The Eagles shot 27% from the floor for the game as they dropped their season opener for the fifth straight year.

Asbury did not have a player in double figures as Phillip Morrison led the team with nine points on two-of-nine shooting.  The Eagles were 18-of-68 for the game.  Asbury even struggled from the free-throw line as they went a combined seven-of-20.  Morrison also led the team in rebounds with six and assists with three.

The Eagles struggled on the boards as TWC won the battle 50 to 30.  Matt Towry led the Bulldogs with eight rebounds and a game-high 24 points.  Towry was one of five Bulldogs in double figures for the game.

Asbury will take the court again on Friday November 5th against Madonna University in the Jamieson-Allen Tip Off Tournament hosted by Spring Arbor in Spring Arbor, Michigan.
